Description
Tadalafil is a prescription medicine for adult men with erectile dysfunction. This page is for the 10mg and 20mg strengths used when required.
How does tadalafil work?
Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. During sexual stimulation it helps blood vessels in the penis relax, making it easier for blood to flow into the penis. It does not create desire or an automatic erection.
How to take on-demand tadalafil
Take the prescribed tablet whole with water before anticipated sexual activity.
- Take it at least 30 minutes before sex.
- Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Avoid grapefruit juice and excessive alcohol.
- Do not take daily tadalafil, Cialis Daily, sildenafil, Viagra or another erectile dysfunction medicine at the same time unless specifically instructed.
What does “up to 36 hours” mean?
Tadalafil may make it easier to get an erection during a period of up to 36 hours after a dose. It does not cause a continuous erection, and sexual stimulation is still required.
If treatment does not work as expected
Do not take another dose on the same day. Contact the clinical team so that timing, dose, interactions, medical causes and alternative treatment can be reviewed.
Storage and disposal
